Commissioners fund project from existing budgets
Ramsey Town Commissioners say the purchase of the Courthouse won't put any extra financial burden on the ratepayer.
The local authority has struck a deal for the building with the Department of Home Affairs, and expressed its gratitude to the Ramsey community for its support.
Town Commissioners agreed to grant the Department a 25-year lease on the police office at the town hall at a 'nominal rent', as well as paying the department a cash fee of £80,000.
The local authority chairman Andy Cowie says it's hoped this figure will come out of existing budgets.
He told Manx Radio public backing was essential to ensuring the sale:
