Ramsey Commissioners jubilant
A finalised agreement has been reached between Ramsey Town Commissioners and the Department of Home Affairs over the sale of the town's Courthouse.
In exchange for the landmark site, the local authority has granted the department a 25 year lease on the police office at Ramsey Town Hall - at a 'nominal rent' - and agreed to pay a fee of £80,000.
The process will now begin for the Courthouse to be formally transferred to the authority, along with the War Memorial and surrounding gardens.
It's hoped the deal will be completed by the end of August.
Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey says he's pleased a positive outcome could be achieved 'for all parties', after what he called 'amicable' negotiations.
