Sentence a direct alternative to jail

A man who admitted possessing cannabis, cocaine and heroin has been ordered to do community service.

Tomasz Piotr Pasternak of Belmont Terrace in Douglas was arrested in December last year when police found he was carrying £350 worth of heroin, around £70 of cocaine and a small amount of cannabis.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said the 33 year old already had convictions for possessing cannabis and possessing the drug with intent to supply, and she was offering a community service order as a direct alternative to jail.

She ordered him to do a total of 180 hours of community service for possessing class A drugs, and fined him £300 for possessing cannabis.

Pasternak was also ordered to pay £125 costs.
