Coastal overtopping warning upgraded to 'Amber'

Risk of severe weather causing disruption

The yellow weather warning for coastal overtopping has been upgraded to amber.

That signals a risk of severe weather impacting on work, schools & travel, causing disruption and damage in places, and even risk of injury.

The Isle of Man Met Office says the areas most at risk are the central and northern parts of Douglas Promenade, Laxey & Ramsey Promenades, as well as the Port St Mary end of Shore Road, Rushen.

Strong to gale force southeast winds, coupled with high tides, will create some large waves which could throw sea water and debris onto exposed coastal roads and promenades around the times of high tides today & tomorrow.

The warning is in place from 10am until 3pm tomorrow (Saturday, 13 February).
