Not all heterosexual couples want religious element to their relationship
An Island advocate says that Civil Partnerships between heterosexual couples are widely practiced in other parts of the world as an alternative to marriage.
John Wright was speaking after Leonard Singer's amendment to the Marriage (Same Sex couples) Bill, providing for Civil Partnerships between heterosexual couples, was supported in the Keys.
Speaking on today's "Talking Heads" Programme, Mr Wright said in France around 95% of all civil partnerships were between heterosexual couples who didn't want a religious element to their relationship:
