Coastguard and RNLI teams involved in 'extensive' maritime search
Coastguard rescue teams, RNLI lifeboats and a coastguard helicopter were involved in the response after a Personal Locator Beacon was activated yesterday afternoon.
The location was given as 'within a five-mile radius of Snaefell', meaning crews had a significant area of land and water to search.
Several hours after the beacon was activated the search was called off and the incident closed.
The Isle of Man Coastguard says crews, alongside colleagues from the RNLI, carried out an extensive maritime search and no vessel or person in distress was located.
The agency is recommending all safety equipment is stored correctly and checked on a regular basis in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
