His son spoke of his strength, stubbornness and love
The funeral has taken place at St Mary's Church in Douglas for Douglas North MHK John Wannenburgh, who died earlier this month.
Born in Cleethorpes and raised in South Africa, John Wannenburgh's qualities as a man of few words, a man with a big heart, a wicked sense of humour and a genuine instinct for people were known by all who came into contact with him - either as a politician, work colleague or friend.
But for the many people - including the Lieutenant Governor, members of Tynwald, work colleagues and friends - who filled St Mary's Church in Douglas for his funeral, it was the words of his son Max, that exemplified his most important quality - as a devoted husband to his wife Lisa and Dad to his three sons.
Max spoke of a man fiercely protective of his family with a mix of strength, stubbornness and love that he would never forget.
He said beyond work and everything else John was Dad - always in their corner at all times. Not perfect but real and deeply loved. The example he set was by just being himself, and his family will always love him more than any words could say.
John Charles Wannenburgh leaves wife Lisa and sons Max, Julian and Rocco.
