Humanitarian disaster looming warns DEC
The Manx public is being urged to donate what they can to an international appeal for the millions of people facing starvation in East Africa.
Local charity the One World Centre is holding a bucket appeal in towns and villages across the Island over the next three days (24-26 March) - with all funds raised going to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
More than 16 million people in South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia are said to be in immediate need of food, water and medical supplies.
Aid workers say a 'catastrophic humanitarian disaster' is looming.
Rosemary Clarke from the Centre says there's great concern many children are at risk of starving to death.
More collectors are needed to shake buckets - if you can spare a couple of hours today, Saturday or Sunday contact the One World Centre on 800464, or e mail info@owciom.org.
