Delegation of six funded by CPA
The President of Tywnald is in the Cayman Islands to observe an election in the Overseas Territory today (24 May).
Steve Rodan is leading a six-strong delegation from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
Their remit - to ensure international standards of democracy and professional competency are met.
The team will also assess whether the polls are conducted in an impartial and transparent manner.
The 2017 general elections will be the fourth since the introduction of political parties in the Cayman Islands, and the first under a new ‘one person, one vote’ system.
It's the second time Mr Rodan has headed-up an observers' delegation.
In 2015, he led a mission for the general elections in the British Virgin Islands.
