Cause of Port Erin fire under investigation

Occupant and dog treated for smoke inhalation

An investigation is underway following a fire at a property in Port Erin.

The occupant was helped from their home by a neighbour who heard the smoke alarm, while their dog had to administered oxygen as a result of the incident at Grammah Avenue yesterday evening.

Crews were called to the scene shortly after 9pm to tackle the living room fire, which had left the house heavily smoke logged.

Pet oxygen therapy masks provided by Paws for Therapy were used to save the dog's life, while the occupant was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics.

Firefighters spent 90 minutes at the scene and are still working to determine the cause of the blaze.
