Local authority held tree planting ceremony with local primary school children
A tree planting ceremony was held this week to celebrate the 130th anniversary of Poulsom Park.
The land was gifted to Castletown Commissioners by Mary Poulsom in June 1896 for which she was presented with a gold key.
Two red oak trees were planted in the park - one by Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer and one by Lady Lorimer.
Sir John and Lady Lorimer had helpers during the tree planting from the children of Victoria Road Primary School.
The commissioners planted 10 trees in total and have plans to hold a community event later in the year, to celebrate the anniversary.
