Call for remaining census forms to be completed

73% completed so far

Nearly three-quarters of households have now completed the Isle of Man Census according to the Census Office.

Reminder letters are being sent to those yet to respond.

Officials say 73 per cent of households have so far returned their forms with residents being encouraged to take part as soon as possible if they haven’t already done so.

People can complete the census online, on paper, over the phone or in person with the help of a census officer.

The Census Office says households can ignore reminder letters if they have submitted their form this week and anyone unsure about the process is being urged to contact the team for advice.

Under Manx law every household is required to complete a census form.

Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford has thanked those who have already taken part describing the current response rate as “excellent”.

He says every completed form helps build a clearer picture of the Island’s population and its future needs.

The information collected will be used by government departments, local authorities, charities and businesses to help inform decisions around public services and infrastructure.

Mr Ashford says the census will play a vital role in shaping future planning for areas including healthcare, education, housing and transport.
