Border restrictions have 'significant impact' on tourism sector

Island would normally welcome around 300,000 visitors over summer season

The border restrictions are having a 'significant impact' on the Island's hospitality sector, despite Manx residents taking staycations.

That's from Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly, who says the lack of visitors from off-Island has been challenging for the industry.

He estimates around 300,000 visitors would usually provide business to the sector.

As a result, Mr Skelly says his department is looking at whether further support will be needed over the coming months:

Meanwhile, an Island accommodation company has adapted the way it works to the burgeoning 'staycation' market.

Fiona Anderson from Knockaloe Beg Farm in Patrick, says they've found new areas of focus for local customers.
