Beach Buddies switch focus to bird nesting areas

The official start of the season is 1 March

As the deadline for the bird nesting season fast approaches, a new programme of beach cleaning events has been arranged by local environmental group Beach Buddies.

The official start of the bird nesting season is 1 March.

Therefore, all weekend events hosted by the group during February will concentrate on cleaning up the main bird nesting areas along the northwest and southeast coastlines.

It all begins this weekend, when the team will head to the Ballaghennie Ayres Nature Reserve from 10.30am tomorrow (Sunday 11 February).

For the remainder of February, they will return back to these areas for their Sunday events to leave the bird nesting areas as free from beach litter as possible. 

As always, all equipment is provided, and everyone is welcome to attend.
