Praise for sewage plant
A £6 million sewage plant in the north has 'totally transformed' the local coastline, according to charity Beach Buddies.
Manx Utilities' facility at Balladoole was constructed in 2015, bringing an end to the decades-long practice of dumping untreated sewage off Ramsey Bay.
Volunteers for Beach Buddies picked up more than 7,500 baby wipes from the two-mile stretch of coast last December.
Since then, they say only a 'handful' have appeared, owing largely to the effectiveness of the treatment facility.
