Facilities in Ballasalla needed for September
There are questions around what impact expanding the population will have on the Island's education provision.
It's as plans for new temporary classrooms at Ballasalla School have been given the green light.
Whilst the decision by the planning committee was unanimous, several members said they felt they had 'no choice' as the classrooms would be needed by the start of the academic year in September.
This in light of an increased school roll due to development in the area in recent years.
Dandara has been developing the Reayrt Mie estate over the past five years, which promises to add close to 300 new homes to the area by the time it's completed.
Both applications, one for a mobile classroom adjacent to the on-site nursery, and another to replace the existing community cabins on the school grounds, were approved.
The Department of Education, Sport and Culture has been contacted for comment.
