However police 'unaware' of any threats made in relation to events

Organisers of four upcoming 'after prom' parties say they've decided to cancel the events amid claims of 'credible threats of violence'.

The events are separate from the end-of-year 11 proms and are usually arranged by parents, with no formal involvement of teachers or schools.

Isle of Man Constabulary says: 'Given the tragic incident in Ramsey last month that led to the death of a 14-year-old child and the ongoing police investigation, queries around safety at the after-parties have been raised.'

However, police say they are 'not aware of any threats in relation to these events and [the constabulary] has not advised they should be cancelled'.

The constabulary adds: 'Police take any threats of violence seriously and are actively investigating allegations of retribution in connection with the death in Ramsey, which has led to arrests.'

'The Isle of Man Constabulary remains focussed on ensuring public safety and conducting a thorough and respectful investigation and thanks the community for its continued cooperation and understanding.'

If any person has received threats or knows of any person who has received threats in relation to this matter, they are asked to make contact immediately with police on 631212.

Likewise, anyone who wishes to pass information anonymously can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
