Michael Dunlop black-flagged on final lap in late drama
Peter Hickman has taken victory in today's Supertwin TT race after an epic shootout around the Snaefell Mountain Course this afternoon (8 June).
Hickman's win comes after a thrilling duel with Michael Dunlop for top spot, who dramatically dropped away and was black-flagged on the final lap after having to stop and make mechanical adjustments.
That allowed Lee Johnston on his Aprilia machine to take second position ahead of Paul Jordan who claimed the final podium place in third.
Hickman and Dunlop quickly set the early pace in the contest, and throughout the three laps traded positions through the sectors, with never more than one second separating the two during the race.
However, there was to be drama on the final lap with still almost nothing separating the two, as Dunlop was black-flagged from the contest after stopping off and having to make some adjustments to his Paton machine.
That allowed Johnston to move up and ultimately hold on for second place after solid display during the race, coming past the finish line one minute and 49 seconds after Hickman.
Hickman's been speaking to Manx Radio:
Speaking after the race Johnston said he's hoping to put in an even better performance next year:
It was also a successful afternoon for Paul Jordan who had to fight off a charge from Pierre Yves Bian during the race to eventually take the final podium spot.
Jordan has been reflecting on the race:
