Saltburn man wins after titanic battle with Michael Dunlop

Davey Todd has taken the first race victory of TT 2025 after securing top spot in a gripping Superbike TT this afternoon.

The 8TEN Racing man claimed top honours after a thrilling battle for supremacy with Michael Dunlop who finished just 1.2 seconds back in second.

Meanwhile, Honda Racing UK's Dean Harrison completed the top three in third whilst just outside the podium was an impressive display from local rider Nathan Harrison in fourth.

The early stages of today's opening contest saw a close-fought battle at the front developing between Todd and Harrison - that duo along with Michael Dunlop slowly began to start opening a gap to the rest of the field during lap one.

By the time the front of the field were heading out onto lap two, it was Todd stretching his advantage out front to nearly eight seconds, whilst on the run across the mountain on lap one Dunlop managed to overhaul Harrison to move up to second.

That gap had almost stabilized by Ramsey on lap two with Harrison a further near-five seconds off Dunlop on third - outside the top three, local rider Nathan Harrison was putting on an impressive display in fourth on the run into the first pit stops of the race.

The early pit stops proved significant - Whilst Dunlop was in and away relatively smoothly, issues for Todd meant that his lead over Dunlop was cut by around six seconds going onto lap three.

Elsewhere, outside of Dean Harrison in third and Nathan Harrison in fourth, completing the top-ten from fifth up to tenth at the halfway stage were David Johnson, James Hillier, Josh Brookes, John McGuinness and Dominic Herbertson.

For the leading two, the penultimate lap saw both Todd and Dunlop trading superiority across the sectors - just 1.9 seconds sat between them heading into the final run.

Meanwhile, their pace also in turn was seeing them further increase the distance between themselves and Dean Harrison running comfortably in third.

With one last chance around the mountain course to catch the leader, Dunlop had the hammer down on lap four to at one stage have the gap down to just 0.2 seconds, however the Ballymoney man's charge was partially slowed as he found himself navigating past Dean Harrison in the order on the road heading into Kirk Michael to allow Todd to eek out the lead once more.

Less than two seconds separated the leading pair heading onto the Mountain section - and after yet another titanic tussle it was Todd who would hold off Dunlop's advances by a mere 1.2 seconds to take top spot in a thrilling encounter.
