Outright lap record holder says TT competition and rivalry is 'healthy'

The Isle of Man TT Races' outright lap record holder says he welcomes how strong the competition around him is again for 2025.

Peter Hickman - who moved onto 14 TT victories in 2024 - comes into this year's meeting as co-owner of the new 8TEN Racing team with fellow rider Davey Todd in what will be a new chapter for both competitors.

Hickman believes the competition and rivalry in the racing right now is 'healthy' and thinks it's right that no win on the Snaefell Mountain Course should come easily.

What's more, he recently told Manx Radio about the challenges of setting up a new squad in the current climate:

In February this year, both Hickman and Todd split from FHO Racing as BMW Motorrad UK confirmed what it described as a 'restructure' of its motorsport lineup.

Since then, the riders have joined forces to create 8TEN Racing which is campaign in both road racing and at the British Superbikes Championship (BSB) for 2025.

The crew made its road racing debut earlier this month at the North West 200 in Northern Ireland where Todd took two wins in the Superbike class.

Outside of that, Todd and Hickman managed a further four podiums between them on the Triangle circuit.

Separately, Hickman will also be competing in the Supersport category at this year's TT on Triumph machinery under his own PHR Performance banner.

He'll also contest the Supertwin races on board a Swan Racing Yamaha which he also campaigned at TT 2024.
