Honda rider claims first mountain course victory for six years

Dean Harrison claimed his first TT win in six years with a convincing victory in the Superstock TT Race 1 this evening (3 June).

In an intense two-lap shootout, Harrison took the chequered flag by more than 11 seconds after an early battle with Davey Todd who finished second.

Elsewhere, Michael Dunlop claimed third and the final podium space having held off and eventually moved away from some intense competition for the top-three.

From the outset both Todd and Harrison were looking to set the pace at the front whilst Michael Dunlop, James Hillier and Nathan Harrison were involved in the early battles for a top-three spot.

By the time the second and flying lap got underway, Todd was maintaining a marginal 0.4-second gap in front from Dean Harrison with those two storming a full 20 seconds clear of Dunlop in third who was continuing to fight off the advances of Hillier and Nathan Harrison.

The lead then took a swap at Glen Helen on lap two as Harrison leapt above Todd in the standings by 2.3 seconds as Todd looked to negotiate traffic in front on his way through the sector.

By the time that leading duo reached Ramsey, Harrison's advantage had stretched to just over five seconds as he continued his pursuit of a first TT win since the Senior race in 2019.

Elsewhere, Dunlop was further cementing his position in the podium places having stretched out his advantage over Hillier into fourth to more than 14 seconds with Nathan Harrison dropping down to sixth.

Having seen late drama in more than one of the races at this year's meeting so far, there was to be know late twist in the tale with Harrison taking the chequered flag, and in style to take top spot by more than 11 seconds.
