Tributes paid to 'incredible' Dave Molyneux following retirement

Manxman remains most successful sidecar competitor in TT history

Tributes are being paid to Dave Molyneux following his retirement from racing this week.

It was confirmed yesterday (11 June) the Manxman - who remains the most successful sidecar competitor in TT history with 17 wins - would be hanging up his leathers nearly 40 years since his mountain course debut in 1985.

Among those congratulating Molyneux on his endeavours is the Southern 100 Club at which he made his maiden appearance in 1984 with passenger Paul Craine.

Also describing the 60-year-old as 'a brilliant engineer and sidecar builder', the club says it's been 'honoured' to watch him race and is proud to see his name added to the 'Champions Board' at Billown.

What's more, Molyneux has six Southern 100 Sidecar championships to his name between 1985 and 2003 - a record which still stands at the southern course after more than 20 years.

Elsewhere, the Island driver's fellow TT competitors from recent times have also been quick to praise his achievements over the years.

Fellow Manx sidecar racers Ryan and Callum Crowe describe Molyneux's  time in the sport as an 'incredible career' and wish him well in his retirement.

Meanwhile, Alan Founds calls him a 'legend', adding 'it's been a pleasure to share the track with you.'
