Town have cutting 'Edge'

Castletown came from behind to win the tie of the round in the quarter-finals of the GH Corlett Woods Cup on Saturday.

Just a week after they thrashed Marown 7-2 in the league, they returned to Crosby and ran out 5-2 winners.

After taking an early the lead through a debatable penalty from Michael Edge, Marown used their aerial threat to full advantage with goals from Ricky Lovett and Paul Bratty putting them 2-1 in front at half-time.

However, Town’s youthfulness was evident in the second half and once Dan Hattersley drew them level, marking his first-team debut with a goal, Town stepped up the pace with Edge completing a hat-trick and Alex Crawley getting the other.

Castletown will now host Pulrose after they saw off a battling Douglas and District 3-1 at home, thanks to goals from Barry English, David Skillen and Jay Wood.

D&D had held Pulrose to 1-1 at the break.

Douglas Royal came from behind to win 4-2 at Malew after extra-time.

The southerners led 2-1 at the interval after goals from Darryl Yardley and Keith Callister.

However, Royal forced extra-time and completed a fine comeback - goals from Kyle Menton, Chris Anderson, Craig Dolman and Gouzalo Guarnschelli sealing a semi-final berth where they’ll travel to St John’s.

They were given a brief scare by Onchan before emerging 5-1 home winners.

Gareth Boreman had drawn the visitors level at one point but St John’s were comfortable in the end, led by a Mike Peace hat-trick and goals from Anthony Moore and Callum Taggart.
