Four Island riders in GB team

No place for Cavendish or Anna Christian

Mark Christian, Peter Kennaugh, Ian Stannard and Ben Swift have been named in the Great Britain Cycling team for the World Road Race Championship.

There is no place for Mark Cavendish who has just returned to competitive action at the Tour of Britain after injury.

Anna Christian was named on the long list for the women's event but has not been included.

The World Championships take place in Bergen in Norway from Sunday 17th to Sunday 24th September.
