Former Island player just missed out on main draw last year
Isle of Man professional tennis player Billy Harris begins his campaign in The French Open men's singles qualifiers today (20 May).
The former Albany and Castletown player - who's sixth seed for men's qualifying - will take on fellow Brit Dan Evans in the first round this afternoon.
The winner of today's contest on Court 9 at Roland Garros will face either Australian competitor Li Tu or French wildcard Clement Tabur in the next phase.
In the same event last year, Harris only just missed out on a place in the main draw for the 'Grand Slam' event.
Twelve months ago, he reached the men's singles third qualifying round before a 7-6, 7-5 defeat to Valentin Vacherot of Monaco.
Currently 103rd in the ATP men's world rankings, Harris' most recent outing was also in France where he reached the Last-16 stage in Bordeaux on the ATP Challenger Tour.
