Orry Farnworth and Charlotte Clarke successfully defended their singles titles during the finals of the 2025 Island Tennis Championships last weekend.

Five trophies were decided at Douglas Lawn Tennis Club across last Friday evening (29 August) and Saturday morning (30 August).

On Saturday the singles finals took place with Farnworth taking a convincing win over Sean Drewry (6-1, 6-1) in the men's event.

Clarke was equally commanding in winning the women's singles showdown, beating Ava Austerberry in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).

Elsewhere, Sarah Long would go on to beat Lucy Kerr (7-5, 6-4) and Jayden Go defeated Craig Swann (6-3, 6-4) in the respective women's and men's singles 3rd/4th place play-offs.

The day previous the focus was on the doubles competitions - in the men's final, number one seeds Drewry and Farnworth proved too strong for Andrew Maxwell and Nick Reeder (6-0, 6-0).

The women's doubles was played in a round-robin format and after all but one of the matches had been played, it went down to the final fixture with Clarke and Long taking the silverware with victory over Karen Faragher and Rosie Manuja (6-2, 6-1).

Meanwhile, the mixed doubles final saw a meeting of the top two seeds in the tournament with Drewry and Clarke starting the event at no.1 and fellow finalists Farnworth and Faragher at no.2.

Farnworth and Faragher would end up surrendering a 4-1 lead in the first set to lose set one 6-4 with Drewry and Clarke powering to also take the second set 6-4 and ultimately the tournament victory.
