Former Island star to face 2021 grand slam semi-finalist
Former Isle of Man tennis star Billy Harris has found who he'll face in the first round of this year's Wimbledon tournament.
In today's draw for the Gentlemens' Singles competition, Harris has been pitted against Polish contender Hubert Hurkacz.
The first phase of the Gentlemens' and Ladies' Singles events are due to get underway on Monday, 30 June.
Exact times and court numbers are still to be confirmed.
Earlier this week, Harris reached the quarter-finals of this year's Eastbourne Open before being knocked by Ugo Humbert.
Until recently, Harris was down as a reserve for the 2025 'Grand Slam' at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club before replacing Japanese veteran Kei Nishikori who's withdrawn due to injury.
Twelve months ago, the former Albany and Castletown competitor made his debut in the main draw of Wimbledon but suffered first round defeats in both the Gentelemens' Singles and Gentlemens' Doubles.
Meanwhile, Hurkacz was a Wimbledon semi-finalist in 2021 - he's currently ranked 36th in the world and had a highest global ranking of sixth back August 2024.
