It could see athletes gain access to further support to pursue careers
A scholarship programme which offers support to high-performance athletes could become available to Isle of Man competitors.
Sport England is extending its Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) initiative to the Island following previous talks with Isle of Man Sport and the Department of Education, Sport & Culture.
Manx secondary schools along with University College Isle of Man (UCM) are already being supported to gain TASS accreditation.
The process is being overseen by newly-appointed co-ordinator Nikki Arthur and is being fully funded by Isle of Man Sport.
Furthermore, Arthur is also overseeing a pilot Performance Development Programme which is aiding 33 aspiring athletes with mentoring, facility access and performance services around their studies.
It's hoped all secondary schools and UCM will have gained TASS accreditation by September this year.
