Snooker: Manx teams reach semi-finals of Home Internationals

Positives for Men's and Masters teams in Leeds

Both Isle of Man snooker teams made it as far as the cup semi-final stages during the 2026 Home Internationals meeting in the UK this week.

Having finished third in their respective groups during this year's meeting in Leeds, the Isle of Man Men's and Masters squads both reached championship last-four contests across Sunday, 9 August and Monday, 10 August.

During Sunday's action, the men's team of Darryl Hill, Connor Mahon, Dollin Mercer and debutant, Nialls Wilson eventually lost out 5-1 in their semi-final against Northern Ireland B.

It was a similar story for the Masters side of Peter Kirkham, Chris Dagnall, Paddy Delaney and Paul Smyth who were also defeated in the last four with a 5-2 loss in their event to Northern Ireland.

Whilst there was no silverware to bring back to Manx shores, there were notable wins during the group stage matches for both sides with the Men's team defeating Northern Ireland A and the Masters getting the better of Scotland.

Meanwhile, Isle of Man Billiards & Snooker Association is also acknowledging the work of Dave Kelly, who was part of the Isle of Man travelling party and was attending the occasion as one of the referees for the tournament.

Furthermore, Mr Kelly also went on to officiate the Men's Championship Final yesterday (10 August) which saw England take the honours with a 7-1 victory over Wales A.
