Shooting: Dave Corlett shows the way

'Ideal' conditions at Meary Veg

The first round of the SUNTERA GLOBAL Sporting league was held at Meary Veg Santon with 22 competitors taking part in near ideal conditions.

After the first stand we had a ten-way tie for first place between Dave and Rob Corlett, Cobus Van de Barg, Joe Faragher, Ed Rixon, his better half Sue Doyle, George Davies, Brian Kelly, Mike Whitehead and Mark Hepworth. 

We only had three people tying for first place on 15 after stand two Rob Corlett, Cobus Van de berg and lady shooter Sue Doyle followed by Brian Kelly on 14. 

Cobus Van de berg was in the lead on his own after stand three on 22 followed by Dave Corlett, Sue Doyle and Brian Kelly on 21 with Rob Corlett and Ed Rixon next on 20. 

We had a new leader after stand four in Dave Corlett on 29 with Cobus Van de Berg in second place on 28 followed by Brian Kelly in third place on 27 and Rob Corlett and Mark Corrin in equal fourth place on 26. 

Dave Corlett was still in the lead after stand five on 37 with Rob Corlett and Cobus Van de Berg in equal second place on 34 with Brian Faragher, Mark Corrin and Joe Faragher next on 33.

The sixth and last stand was Brian Faragher's signature stand a double rabbit one low right to left and one on the high bank left to right.

In C class Mark Sweetman finished in third place with 28 points with Mike Whitehead taking second place with 29 points but winning C class with 36 points was lady shooter Sue Doyle.

In B Class Ed Rixon and Joe Faragher were in equal third place on 38 and we also had a tie for first place in B between Mark Corrin and Cobus Van de Berg with 40 points each.

Brian Fargher was third in A class on 41 points with Rob Corlett taking second place with 42 points but top of the pile with 43 points was Dave Corlett.

Results 

A Class - 1st D Corlett 43, 2nd R Corlett 42, 3rd B Faragher 41.

B Class - 1st M Corrin, Cobus Van de Berg 40, 3rd  J Faragher, E Rixon 38.

C Class - 1st S Doyle 36, 2nd M Whitehead 29, 3rd M Sweetman 28.
