Douglas Bounce Back

Disastrous December turned into joyous January for Douglas when they claimed a bonus point 34-21 win in their clash with Burnage at Port-e-Chee in Regional 2 North West. 

There was another surprise defeat for promotion rivals Sandbach means that Douglas remain in fourth place but with a game in hand which could now see them go second.

Harry Hewson and Harry Cartwight were both on target for Douglas and Si Hoddinott’s try plus three conversions and a penalty for Matty Woods saw Douglas 24-14 ahead at half time. 

In the second half Zack Wickman added the bonus point try with Woods adding the conversion and a second penalty to make the game safe.

Ramsey claim first win but Vagabonds lose on the road

Ramsey picked up their first win of the season in Counties 3 ADM Lancs/Cheshire with a 41-28 victory against Hoylake in a thriller at the Mooragh Park.

Jake Richmond and Brandon Atchison both picked up early tries for Ramsey and with Dan Kelly’s flawless boot adding two conversions and a penalty they raced into a 17-0 lead. 

Hoylake hit back through Darren Agnew with Ross Jones converting before a Luke Ward try and a Kelly conversion restored the lead. 

As half time approached Hoylake turned up the heat and tries from Jack Jones and Conner Bradshaw plus two more Jones conversions left Ramsey leading 24-21 at the break.

Jack Jones crossed for his second just after the restart and with Ross Jones converting the visitors had their noses in front at 28-24. 

Brandon Atchison raced in for his second to restore the Ramsey lead and Kelly’s conversion plus another penalty had them 34-28 ahead. 

With just over five to play Jake Richmond intercepted for his second of the game and Kelly’s conversion rounded things off.

Vagas lost 24-17 away at Ormskirk in their first game of 2026 but did pick up a losing bonus point. 

Ben Keig, Cam Findlay and Jackson Bowers all went in for tries for Vagas with Findlay adding a conversion. They take on new league leaders Fleetwood at Ballafletcher next Saturday.

Vagabonds Ladies downed at Macclesfield

Vagas Ladies lost 43-27 away at Macclesfield in their 2026 opener in Womens NC2 North (South) after trailing just 17-12 at half time. 

Veteran Corrina Daly bagged a try for Vagas, Gabby Oliveira also crossed and Freya Crowe continued her remarkable scoring run with yet another try to her tally. 

Holly Scott and Becka Hicks rounded off the Vagas try chart with skipper Sammie Macdonald adding a conversion.

Douglas Celts increase lead in Hartford Homes Manx Shield

The Celts march on in the Manx Shield with a 22-17 win against second place Western Vikings. 

Ed Knight, Tom Randall and Dick Seed all crossed for Vikings with Drew Balls adding a conversion. The Celts now lead the standings by a massive seventeen points.
