Douglas beat Winnington Park

In a tight game at Port-e-Chee in Regional 2 North West, Douglas beat Winnington Park to keep their momentum going. 

After an early exchange of penalties Oli Corkish put Douglas in front. Matty Wood added a second penalty for Douglas but it was tries from Nathan Robson and Blake Everson which made the difference with Wood converting both.

Douglas sit sixth in the standing but have a game in hand which could see them climb as high as second. They host the current second place side Northwich next week in what could be a huge game.

Vagabonds and Ramsey defeated but both secure bonus points

There were defats on the road for Vagabonds and Ramsey in Counties3 ADM Lancs/Cheshire however both scored four or more tries and secured their first points of the season.

Vagas succumbed to Ashton-Under-Lyne 44-24 but tries from Theo Head, Cam Findlay, Matt Rockwell and Matty Jones gave them their bonus point with Findlay also kicking two conversions.

Ramsey led their game with Colne & Nelson 20-12 at half time but withered in the second half. 

Tries came from Joe Flanagan, Josh Corteen and a late brace for former skipper Matt Meechan. Josh Leece kicked two penalties and two conversions and young scrum half Dan Kelly also kicked two conversions.

Douglas Celts win in Hartford Homes Manx Shield

Douglas Celts took maximum points against Southern Nomads in the Shield with a 55-12 win against Southern Nomads at Port-e-Chee. 

Cal Dentith and Aaron Mason both crossed early for Douglas with seventy year old Neil MacGregor celebrating his big birthday by converting Dentith’s try. 

Mike Evans hit back for Nomads and Mark Young’s conversion made it 12-7. Douglas then accelerated away with tries from Rob Todd, Conor Stephens and Sam Randam to lead 31-7 at half time.

Fred Atherton put Douglas further in front after the break and a George Antill double made the game unwinnable for Nomads. Randam then added his second of the game before Jimmy Cubbon bagged a late consolation for Nomads.
