Report by Dave Christian:

Douglas drop to fourth

An unexpected defeat for Douglas at West Park (St Helens) saw them drop from top to fourth in Regional 2 North West.

The 30-28 defeat courtesy of a late West Park penalty, did however give Douglas two valuable bonus points and with the game they have in hand, they could still lead the table by three.

Liam Kirkpatrick was on target again for Douglas and their other tries came from Blake Everson, Josh Campbell and John Dutnall and Nathan Robson converted all four.

Douglas face second place Sandbach at Port-e-Chee next week for what should be a real Christmas cracker.

No comfort and joy for Ramsey and Vagabonds

In Counties 3 ADM Lancs/Cheshire both Isle of Man sides suffered defeats.

Ramsey lost 26-8 away at Dukinfield while Vagas hosted league leaders Bury and lost 43-21.

Ramsey leaked four early tries and trailed 26-0 within twenty minutes.

The team however did wake up and Dan Kelly’s penalty gave them a glimmer of hope at half time when they trailed 26-3.

Euan Harmer bagged a try early in the second half as Ramsey started to dominate the game however as time ebbed away, they couldn’t build on that even after Dukinfield picked up a couple of yellow cards in the closing stages.

At Ballafletcher Bury ran in two quick tries to lead.

Cam Findlay pulled one back for Vagas and converted it himself but a third Bury try left Vagas trailing 19-7 at the break.

Vagas grabbed the lead early in the second half with tries from Dan Bonwick and Corne Theron, both converted by Findlay.

Bury retook it with a penalty and then ran away with the game in the final stages.

Douglas Celts remain in pole

In the Hartford Homes Manx Shield leaders Douglas Celts beat Western Vikings 66-22 at a muddy Port-e-Chee to remain clear at the top of the standings.

Fred Atherton and George Antill both ran in hat tricks for the Celts and there were also tries from Sam Clark and Aaron Mason.

Jack Rowlands gave a kicking masterclass with eight out of ten conversions in tricky conditions.

Ed Knight, Sam Kennaugh and Charlie Henthorn all crossed for Vikings with George Corrin kicking one conversion.
