Vagabonds bounce back to beat Marple (Results - 13 Jan)
Report by Dave Christian:
Douglas made it four wins on the bounce with a 41-14 win away at Whitchurch and a defeat for Altrincham Kersal means Douglas climb to sixth place in the Regional 2 North West standings.
Blake Snell, Kyle Martin and Angus Wheeler all crossed for tries with wing Sam McCord hogging the limelight with two - Luke Hyland chipped away off the kicking tee and bagged a total of sixteen points with the boot.
Douglas now have a week off while their rivals all play rearranged games so the sixth position may be temporary however they could claim it outright on 27 January when Altrincham Kersal visit Port-e-Chee.
Vagabonds bounce back to beat Marple
Vagas shrugged off last week’s defeat with a 24-17 win away at Marple in Counties 4 ADM Lancs/Cheshire and picked up a try bonus point in the process.
Despite being down to twelve men at one point Vagas showed some composure under pressure and closed out the game, tries came from Regan Williams, Dan Bonwick, Mark Oldfield and Cam Findlay who also added two conversions.
There was good news for Vagas from elsewhere in the league, second place Colne & Nelson lost away at Ellesmere Port which means that Vagas move into the promotion places.
