Rugby: All Manx matches today called off

Four games had originally been scheduled

All of today's rugby matches involving Isle of Man teams have now been postponed.

It's due to the effects of Storm Darragh being felt both on Island and in the UK today (7 December).

Four fixtures had originally been due to take place this week - two on Manx shores and two in England.

The Manx Shield match between Western Vikings and Southern Nomads at QEII in Peel was scrapped yesterday afternoon (6 December).

Conditions also meant Southern Nomads Under-16's Cheshire Cup Second Round tie at Chester was also cancelled on Friday.

Douglas' Regional 2 North West clash away at Winnington Park and Vagabonds' home game against Dukinfield in Counties 3 ADM Lancs/Cheshire had both passed initial pitch inspections yesterday.

Both have since been axed due to flight disruption affecting the travelling Douglas and Dukinfield squads.

An amber weather warning for severe gale/storm force winds is in force on the Isle of Man until 11.59pm tonight.

There's also a yellow weather notice for heavy rain in effect until Noon.

Elsewhere, Isle of Man Airport is currently closed until at least 1.30pm due to the conditions.
