The Warehouse Fitness women’s title race has been blown wide open.
That’s after Peel defeated favourites Corinthians for the second time in three weeks.
A fortnight after knocking them out of the Floodlit Cup, Peel ran out 2-1 winners again.
All the goals were scored in the first half with Sarah Wignall putting them in front and then grabbing the winner after Jade Burden equalised.
Corinthians were presented with a glorious opportunity to level matters when they were awarded a penalty but Peel goalkeeper Lisa Pugh saved the resulting spot-kick.
In the other match, reigning champions Douglas Royal defeated 10 player Colby.
Leading 8-0 at half-time, Donna Shimmin (three), Zoe Hawley (two), Sarah Breen (two), Stephanie Hoogveld (two), Rebecca Cole, Becci Pate, Angela Waite and Andrea Lace all netted in the romp.
