Peel extend lead as All-Saints draw

It’s advantage Peel in the race for the Sure Mobile Premier League.

That’s after the westerners thrashed Union Mills 6-2 at home while title rivals St Mary’s and St George’s cancelled each other out at the Bowl.

It was honours even in the match of the day with both goals coming in the second half.

Steven Priestnal put the Saints ahead before Chris Bass equalised for the champions.

And that was no doubt the result Peel wanted as they romped to victory courtesy of doubles from Kerron Christian and Marc Kelly and one each from Danny Bell and Callum Gallagher.

The match was all but settled inside the opening quarter of an hour as Peel raced into a 3-0 lead.

Although Union Mills scored after the break through a David Thommeny penalty and Sam Caine, they were mere consolations.

Old Boys took advantage of the draw at the Bowl to move up to second with a 4-1 home success over Michael.

Two goals each from Sean Gavin and Callum Stewart sealed the points with player-manager Nick Hurt providing Michael’s only bright spot.

Corinthians gave themselves a survival boost in the basement battle but their 2-0 win leaves Ayre United rock bottom and clear favourites for relegation.

A goal in each half from Jamie Stoy, from the penalty spot, and Steven Glover sealed a valuable three points.

Gymns eased their own relegation concerns but increased Colby’s by thrashing the southerners 5-1 at Tromode.

A Daniel Halligan hat-trick, plus goals from Ciaran McNulty and Gareth Gawne, ensured Adam Fretwell’s goal had no impact.

Laxey continued their return to form with a 3-0 win at Ramsey, thanks to a double from Lee Cowley and a goal from sub Rob Sorby.

Ramsey’s cause wasn’t helped by a missed penalty – their fourth in succession.
