
Commonwealth Games competitor Steve Partington was the fastest finisher at the opening round of the HSBC Winter Race Walking League at the National Sports Centre on Sunday morning.
He put in a time of 49 minutes and 47 seconds for the 10k distance.
Peter Kaneen was 23 seconds back in second place with third going to Andy Green in 54 minutes and 45 seconds.
The fastest woman was Lisa Motley in 10th overall followed by Jane Mooney (12th) and Alison Brand (13th).
44 competitors turned-up for the full race where the results are used to set handicaps for the rest of the series.
Enid Watson won the 5k race and the Junior winners were Adam Cowin, Josh Looker and Daniel Scarffe.
