Nine time finisher a popular character
Two-time Parish Walk winner Charlie Weston has passed away.
He was 81 years old and had suffered a stroke in June last year.
The popular competitor completed the 85 mile route nine times and won in 1989 and 1991.
The quickest time Charlie registered was in finishing second to Willie Corkill in 1987 in 17 hours, 17 minutes and 56 seconds.
He became the first 70 year old finisher on his final finish in 2004.
Tributes are being paid to Charlie Weston on the Parish Walk Facebook page - David Cretney MLC says "a great athlete - legend of the Parish Walk" and Moira Radcliffe wrote "a lovely guy and a true gent".
