Over 130 athletes join latest Sport Aid Academy programme

Charity has supported some of the Island's biggest stars over the years

Over 130 young Isle of Man athletes will be part of the latest Sport Aid Academy programme.

The latest programme, which runs from 2023 to 2025, includes athletes aged 13-16 across various sports including football, rugby, swimming and gymnastics.

It runs from September to April each year and allows students to be nominated by sporting bodies or schools to take part in the curriculum which includes learning skills around team building, review performance, rest and recovery as well as physical preparation.

It's hoped this approach allows individuals to excel in sports as well as gain life skills for personal and athletic development.

Isle of Man Sport Aid has already supported elite Manx competitors such as Mark Cavendish, Yasmin Ingham, Lizzie Holden and numerous others.

Meanwhile, considerations for the cohort for 2024-2026 will begin shortly.
