Last-gasp O'Reilly rescues point
Peel’s Sarah O’Reilly came back to haunt her former club by netting a last minute equaliser in a pulsating 3-3 draw against Corinthians on Sunday.
It was a dramatic end to the Regency Travel Floodlit Cup group match and a great advert for women’s football in the Isle of Man.
Emily Jones had fired the westerners into the lead after 15 minutes.
Casey Halsall equalised for the Whites before Melissa Bell put the Ballafletcher side in front before half-time.
O’Reilly levelled matters after the break to make it 2-2, however Corinthians recaptured their lead with only two minutes on the clock via a Lisa Costain free-kick.
That looked like being the winner before O’Reilly struck again, ensuring a share of the spoils.
In the other cup tie, Gymns were pushed hard before defeating Old Boys 3-2.
The Tromode side had taken a two goal half-time lead through Gillian Christian and Rhiannon Brew strikes.
Helen Cooper pulled a goal back for the Blackberry Lane side shortly after the restart, before Gymns regained their two goal advantage through an Alannah Hall effort.
DHSOB netted their second in the closing stages, Kim Watson scoring direct from a corner.
