IoM third in medal table after opening day
After day one of competition at the Island Games in Gotland, the Isle of Man lies in third place in the medal table behind Jersey and the hosts.
Two gold, one silver and one bronze medal have been won so far.
Among the highlights, Ollie Lockley claimed gold in the men’s 10,000 metres, a feat matched by Josh Hewett in the high jump.
Bethan Pilley took silver in the women’s long jump, with Richard Bell taking bronze in the hammer throw.
Ollie was naturally elated after winning gold.
