Vagabonds B’s hopes of winning the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield took a severe dent when they lost 12-10 at home to favourites Southern Nomads.
Vagas led 3-0 at the end of a scrappy first half which was dominated by referee Simon Murray’s whistle. Danny Williams was on target for Vagas with a 20th minute penalty.
However, Nomads exploded into life in the second half with a try from left wing Josh Samuels after just four minutes.
Midway through the second half, replacement Billy Quine finished off a move down the right to put Nomads in front and, when Al Corrin converted, they led 12-3.
A late flurry from Vagas saw Chris Hermann cross for a try but they were unable to score again before the final whistle.
Leaders Ramsey B maintained their position at the top of the table with a 37-5 win away at Emerging Nomads.
Chris King bagged two tries for Ramsey and there were also tries from Fintan Cummins, Mike Craine and Gareth Hooson-Owen, plus three conversions and two penalties for skipper Darren Ideson.
Nomads’ consolation try came from Kenny Desai.
In the final game of the afternoon, Douglas B beat Castletown 30-3 at Poulsom Park.
Icelandic player Ragnar picked up a brace for Douglas, as did centre Johnny Ledwidge, with their remaining try coming from Joe Whitelegg.
Douglas’ other points came from the boot of George Gadsby.
