Nikki Arthur completes 2025 Spine Race

Island athlete third-fastest female in 268-mile event

Island-based ultra-endurance athlete Nikki Arthur has successfully completed the infamous Spine Race at the first attempt.

Having began the challenge on Sunday (12 January), Arthur crossed the finish line in Kirk Yetholm shortly before 3.40pm this afternoon.

She covered the 268-mile course in a total time of 103 hours, 36 minutes and 59 seconds - well inside the 160-hour limit.

It means she's the third-fastest female in the main race in 2025, only behind UK competitors Lucy Gossage and Robyn Cassidy.

This victory sees Arthur follow in the footsteps of her partner Orran Smith who successfully completed the Spine Race in 2023 and 2024.
