A decision about whether the Manx Grand Prix goes ahead could be made at today's Council of Ministers meeting.
The Governing body of U.K. motor sport - the Motor Sports Association - has issued a statement on it's website advising clubs and competitors to continue as normal, while the outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease in Surrey is investigated.
M.S.A. Chief Executive Colin Hilton says "We are monitoring the situation carefully and liaising closely with the authorities. Our people are well versed in our contingency plans, and these are all in place should they become necessary. In 2001, we were able to react extremely quickly, implementing exclusion zones for non-fixed venues, but at this stage we very much hope that the outbreak is not going to spread. At present, there is no reason to suggest that any motor sport event should be adversely affected."
