The Wigan rider lapped at 123.453mph to top Classic Superbike leaderboard
Wigan rider Rob Hodson was fastest in the opening qualifying session of the 2024 Manx Grand Prix.
The 34-year-old topped the timings as he lapped the Mountain Course at 123.453mph ahead of Mike Browne who only managed to cross the line six-tenths slower.
Elsewhere, Dan Ingham lapped fasted in the Mylchreests Group Senior with a speed of 119.968mph whilst Italian Andrea Majola recorded a speed of 113.533mph in the MGP Supporters Club Junior.
TT stalwarts, Lee Johnston and John McGuinness were quickest in their respective classes. Johnston recorded 114.181mph in the PE Lightweight whilst, John McGuinness circled the course with a speed 110.874mph in the Classic Senior.
Finally, Dan Sayle topped the 2 Wheeling Classics Classic Junior with a lap of 98.711mph.
Conditions were good to start the 2024 MGP, not least because over 20 newcomers were welcomed to the famous course for this year's edition.
The next qualifying session is due to take place today (19 August), however, organisers of the Manx Grand Prix are expecting potential disruption to this evening’s session due to weather with an update scheduled at 1pm.
