Vagabonds Ladies lose at Broughton Park
It wasn’t a good day at the office for Vagas Ladies as they lost 58-7 away at Broughton Park in Womens NC 1 North West. Some late drop outs meant Vagas travelled light and if that wasn’t bad enough, they lost captain and playmaker Lauren Ellison with an injury after just two minutes. Broughton Park took advantage and dominated the game running in a total of ten tries. Jules Harrison pulled one back for Vagas in an improved second half with Sammie Macdonald converting. Vagas now have two weeks to dust themselves down ahead of league leaders Preston Grasshoppers visiting Ballafletcher.
Celts too strong for Nomads
Douglas Celts moved into second place in the Ravenscroft Manx Trophy with a 29-7 win away at Southern Nomads. Dave Sherwin and Craig Martin both went in for Douglas in the first half and when Martin converted his own try, his side were 12-0 in front. Django Kinley hit back for Nomads and Mark Young’s conversion left Nomads trailing 12-7 at half time. With the wind at their backs, Douglas took control in the second half. Sherwin bagged his second of the day early on, Max Morley-Green secured the bonus point try and Bryn Snellgrove’s solo effort ten from the end, converted by Martin put some icing on the Douglas cake.
