Ten-time TT winner announced retirement earlier this week
Motorsport organisations on Island are paying tribute to competitor, Ian Lougher who announced his retirement from racing earlier this week.
On Tuesday (14 October), it was confirmed the 62-year-old is hanging up his leathers following 42 years of racing on the Snaefell Mountain Course.
During the Isle of Man TT Races alone he secured ten race wins, 29 podiums and 103 finishes.
Elsewhere, the Manx Grand Prix - where Lougher made his mountain course debut in 1983 - is congratulating him on his career and describes Lougher as a 'mountain course legend.'
Meanwhile, also paying homage to the rider's legacy is the Southern 100 Road Races on the Billown Course where Lougher is the second-most successful competitor in its history with 40 race victories, including five solo championships.
The Southern 100 Club says his contribution to the event and wider road racing community is 'immeasurable', adding 'his consistency, professionalism and sportsmanship have set a standard for future generations to follow.'
Separately, Lougher is expected to return to the TT in 2026 in his capacity as team owner of Team ILR Racing.
