Manx man comes joint first in UK's longest road race

James Bassett completes Lon Las Ultra for Children's Centre

A Manx man has taken on the longest road race in the UK and come out on top for The Children's Centre.

The Lon Las Ultra is 253 miles long and sees competitors race from Holyhead to Snowdon over the Cambrian Mountains and Brecon Beacons, and finishing in Cardiff.

They have 88 hours to finish, no support is allowed, or headphones or walking sticks and racers have to sleep on the route while carrying their own food and water. 

It's the third time the event has been run and, before this one, only 9 people had ever finished it.

James Bassett not only did that but came joint first.
