IoM squad topped medals table last time it featured in 2017

The Isle of Man's gymnastics team is looking forward to a long-awaiting return to the Island Games in 2025.

Twelve athletes will make up the Manx squad due to compete in Orkney from 12-18 July.

It's been eight years since the sport last featured in the event in Gotland in 2017.

Team Manager, Helen Duggan recently told Manx Radio they're hoping for the games to be an exciting experience for everyone involved:

The last time gymnastics was included in the games, the Isle of Man topped the medals table in Gotland with a total of 29 (13 gold, nine silver and seven bronze).

Furthermore, the Manx team was equally dominant prior to that, managing a haul of 47 medals in Bermuda in 2013.

In the absence of gymnastics at the most recent games in Guernsey in 2023 the Isle of Man competed in an inter-island competition in Aland that year taking 67 medals in total.

Looking ahead to this year's occasion, one of the Isle of Man's gymnastics competitors, Phoebe Christian, is expected to be the youngest athlete to take part in the Orkney games and will only become eligible to compete on the day of the opening ceremony on Saturday, 12 July.
